WILLIAM GWYTHER

Our ancestor William Gwyther was a cordwainer (shoemaker) in Narberth Pembrokeshire. He was baptised May 1817 in St Marys Pembroke. He was one of at least 5 children born to James Gwyther and Mary John. They were married 20 October 1812 in St Marys Tenby.
William married twice. Firstly to a Sophia Evans on 15 May 1835 in Narberth and secondly to Mary Evan on 21 Dec 1841 in Llandewi Velfrey Pembroke.
To Sophia he had three children, Margaret (1836), Ann (8 Feb 1838) and Peregrine (14 Jul 1840). Sophia died in childbirth on 14 Jul 1840. Peregrine was fostered out to a wet nurse in Narberth, Rose Salmon.
To Mary he had five children, William (1843), Sarah (25 Apr 1844), Sophia (31 Mar 1846), Ellenor (7 Sept 1850) and John (10 Aug 1860).
Mary died in Swansea 13 Feb 1881 and William 23 Mar 1898. Their son William was the informant at both deaths.
Out of all their children, it is only Margaret I can find nothing about. She is listed on the 1841 Census but I have been unable to find her after then. Not even a death! Ann did marry someone with the surname Thomas, but I have been unable to find anything else on her. John married in 1883 but didn't have children. The others married and went on to have several children.
My ancestor was Ellenor Gwyther. She went on to marry a John Childs in 1869.
